GROVELAND — Police Chief Robert Kirmelewicz reports that the Groveland Police Department arrested a Haverhill teenager after he allegedly harassed and attacked a woman walking her dog in Groveland, shouting obscenities and throwing beer cans at her.

“Groveland is a safe, vibrant community, and we have absolutely no tolerance for bullies like the suspect and his friends who do not understand that actions have consequences,” said Groveland Deputy Police Chief Jeffrey Gillen. “No one should feel unsafe while walking in Groveland, and we will aggressively pursue those who attack and harass people in our town.”

KYLE A. GUERRA-THERRIEN, AGE 19, OF BRADFORD was arrested on July 3 after a police investigation into an incident that occurred on June 30. He was charged with:

  • Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon (Felony)
  • Use of a Motor Vehicle in Commission of a Felony
  • Littering

At approximately 6:30 p.m. on June 30, a 47-year-old woman walking her two dogs flagged down officers at the intersection of Center and Salem streets in Groveland. The victim said she was walking along the roadway when a silver Honda drove by her, and one of the occupants threw a beer can at her and the occupants were yelling obscenities at her. Five minutes later, she said that the same car came back and the occupants were hanging out the windows yelling obscenities at her.  Then, the vehicle passed her a third time, with the occupants making obscene gestures.

These actions caused the victim significant fear for her safety.

During the third pass, the victim was able to get the car’s license plate number. Police traced the car to a 69-year-old Haverhill resident who hold investigators that his grandson has been in possession of the car at the time.

“This is a deeply disturbing incident,” Chiuef Kirmelewicz said. “I commend our officers for their investigation and making a quick arrest in this case.”

GUERRA-THERRIEN will be arraigned Monday in Haverhill District Court. The investigation remains ongoing, and Groveland Police are seeking to identify the other occupants of the vehicle.
