Groveland Police Release New Videos from Sunday’s TD Bank Robbery

GROVELAND — Police Chief Robert J. Kirmelewicz reports that the Groveland Police Department is releasing a new, high resolution image and new video footage showing the suspect in Sunday’s robbery of the TD Bank Branch on Main Street.

“We want to get this footage out there right away because the public is our eyes and ears. Someone knows this individual, and he should face justice for committing a felony in our community,” Chief Kirmelewicz said.

The first video, available on Vimeo and for download here, shows the bank lobby, with the suspect walking in, pretending to use the ATM, and checking his robbery note before walking into the branch.

The investigation is being led by Groveland Police Detective Steven Petrone.

At 11:37 Sunday morning, a man walked into the branch and handed a note to the teller, claiming he was armed with a gun and a knife and demanding money.

The teller handed the suspect an unknown quantity of cash and he fled. The investigation so far indicates that the suspect fled south on Rt. 97/School Street toward the Town of Georgetown.

The suspect is described as a black male, 20-30 years of age, approximately 5-foot-11, weighting 160-170 lbs. He was wearing a blue Los Angeles Dodgers baseball cap with white letters and a white brim, a black hooded raincoat, blue jeans, sunglasses and black and white tennis shoes.

Groveland Police are investigating the robbery, led by Detective Steven Petrone. The FBI Bank Robbery Task Force is also investigating.

No one was injured.
