Groveland Police Arrest Woman After She Allegedly Drove Vehicle into a House While High on Drugs
School Street Residents Were Home, Not Injured
GROVELAND — Police Chief Robert Kirmelewicz reports that the Groveland Police Department arrested a woman late Wednesday evening after she allegedly drove a vehicle into a house in town while under the influence of narcotics.
KRYSTYNA A. EWART, AGE 46, OF HAVERHILL was arrested at the scene and charged with:
- Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Drugs (Second Offense)
- Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle as to Endanger
- Marked Lanes Violation
Groveland Police responded to an address on School Street around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a motor vehicle into a house. Upon arrival, Officer Joshua Sindoni found a vehicle had crashed through a fire hydrant, continued through a fence, and crashed into the foundation of the house.
The Groveland Fire Department responded to assess EWART and the condition of the house. EWART was uninjured. The occupants of the house were likewise not harmed, and the house received some damage to the foundation, but the building was not destroyed.
EWART was the operator, and police found that she was speaking with slurred speech and moving unsteadily.
EWART made statements indicating she had taken Valium or Xanax. She failed several field sobriety tests and was subsequently arrested. EWART was held without bail overnight and has an open OUI Drugs case pending in Haverhill, She will likely be arraigned on these new charges on Friday in Haverhill District Court.
