Groveland Police Arrest Bank Robbery Suspect

GROVELAND —  Deputy Police Chief Jeffrey Gillen reports that the Groveland and Portsmouth Police Departments arrested a man yesterday in connection with an armed robbery at a TD Bank Branch in Groveland earlier this month.

LAMIN SANU, 29, OF PORTSMOUTH, N.H. was arrested yesterday by Portsmouth police, with assistance from Groveland police, on a Fugitive from Justice warrant.

Groveland Police have an armed robbery warrant for SANU.

SANU is wanted in Massachusetts for his alleged armed robbery at Groveland’s Main Street TD Bank Branch on Sept. 12.

Groveland Detectives Steven Petrone and Heather Riley arrived in Portsmouth at SANU’S home yesterday just before 4 p.m. to assist Portsmouth police with the arrest.

Following the robbery, Groveland detectives were able to gain physical evidence from the scene, later analyzed by the Massachusetts State Police Crime Scene Services Section, to identify SANU as the suspect.

SANU was held overnight without bail at the Portsmouth Police Department. This morning, he waived his extradition at a hearing at Portsmouth District Court. Groveland Police will bring SANU to Massachusetts tomorrow morning, where he will be arraigned on an armed robbery charge at Haverhill District Court.

“I commend the work of Detectives Petrone and Riley, who worked tirelessly with the Portsmouth Police Department and the Massachusetts State Police to locate and arrest this suspect,” Deputy Chief Gillen said. “This was a job well done by all parties.”
