Groveland Police Remind Drivers, Motorcyclists of Safe Driving Tips

GROVELAND — As summer approaches, Deputy Chief Jeffrey Gillen and the Groveland Police Department are providing safety tips for drivers and motorcyclists.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that, in 2013, there were 4,668 motorcyclists killed in motor vehicle traffic crashes, and an estimated 88,000 who were injured.

“Drivers and motorcyclists alike should be hyper-vigilant about safety and defensive driving,” Chief Gillen said. “Summer travel means more cars on the road – and it’s everyone’s responsibility to be aware of their surroundings to ensure the highest level of safety possible.”

To prevent accidents and fatalities, Chief Gillen recommends that drivers and motorcyclists follow several safety tips outlined by the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles.
