GROVELAND — Chief Jeffrey T. Gillen reports that the Groveland Police Department will summons two teenagers after they allegedly vandalized multiple mailboxes in town.
A JUVENILE MALE, AGE 16, OF MERRIMAC, and a JUVENILE MALE, AGE 16, OF WEST NEWBURY will each summonsed to court on a charge of Malicious Destruction of Property (11 Counts).
On Sunday, Aug. 16, at 6:50 a.m., Groveland Police received a report from a Center Street resident that theirs and several neighbors’ mailboxes had been vandalized.
Later that morning, an officer investigating the vandalism encountered two teenage males walking along a route in which mailboxes had been damaged. The teens indicated they were walking from their friend’s home on King Street, and upon further investigation, Groveland Police identified two additional JUVENILE MALES who allegedly admitted responsibility for the damage.
The MALES’ parents were notified to come pick them up from the friends’ home, and they will both be summonsed to appear in court in connection with the property damage.
As a result of the investigation, Groveland Police determined that 11 mailboxes along Center and King Streets were damaged. Any additional residents whose mailboxes were damaged over the weekend are asked to call Groveland Police and ask to speak with Detective Sgt. Heather Riley at 978-521-1212.
