Groveland Police Department Reminds Residents of Vulnerable Road Users Law

GROVELAND 一 Chief Jeffrey Gillen and the Groveland Police Department would like to remind residents of the new Vulnerable Road Users Law.  

The law went into effect in April and requires drivers in Massachusetts to allow at least 4-feet of a safe passing distance when passing by a stopped or vulnerable road user. 

Vulnerable Road users include: 

The law applies to all roadways. Drivers are allowed to cross a double yellow line to adhere to the law.

Road signs will be displayed across Massachusetts in accordance with this law. 

“Residents and community members should be mindful of the new law and adhere to posted signage to help maintain a safe community for drivers and those who use other modes of transportation,” said Chief Gillen. “Allowing four-feet between yourself and a vulnerable road user creates a safe space for everyone on the roads.”
