On behalf of all the members of the Groveland Police Department, I would like to welcome you to our Website. It is my hope that this site will help build a strong bond between our department and the people we serve. Therefore, I feel it is important to provide you with information about how our department works, its outstanding personnel, the various programs we have set up, and any activities involving the department.
I hope you find this information helpful in getting to know us better. I encourage your participation in our efforts to make Groveland a safe and desirable community in which to reside. Chief’s Biography
Jeffrey T. Gillen is the Chief of Police for the Town of Groveland. He started his law enforcement career in 1984 with the Georgetown Police Department. In 1990 he joined the Groveland Police Department.
During his time in Groveland, Chief Gillen was promoted through the ranks. After serving as a detective for eight years he was promoted to the rank of sergeant for three years then to deputy chief for nine years to his current position that he was appointed to in July of 2017.
He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice/Human Services from Springfield College and a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice Administration from Western New England College. Chief Gillen is a 2012 graduate of the FBI National Academy session 250 located in Quantico, Virginia. Currently, he is the Vice President of the Essex County Chiefs of Police Association and will be transitioning into the role of President in 2023.
