Chief Jeffrey Gillen reports that the Groveland Police Department arrested and charged a man with three counts of possession of child pornography on July 31.

JAMES M. GALLAGHER, AGE 36, OF GROVELAND, was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of Child Pornography (Three Counts)

In April, the Massachusetts State Police Cyber Crimes Unit received information that GALLAGHER had downloaded known child pornography files.

On July 31, Groveland Police applied for a search warrant and searched GALLAGHER’s home, where investigators impounded evidence.

GALLAGHER was arrested, processed at the Groveland Police headquarters and then arraigned in Haverhill District Court on Aug. 1.

GALLAGHER pleaded not guilty to all three felony charges during his arraignment. Judge Mary McCabe ordered he be held on a $50,000 bond, or $5,000 cash bail.

He is next due in court on Sept. 21 – via videoconference – for a pretrial hearing. Attorney David Grimaldi of Cambridge is representing him.

These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty.
