GROVELAND — Police Chief Jeffrey T. Gillen reports that the Groveland Police Department is investigating a reported confrontation between a motorist and a pedestrian early Monday.

At this time, the Groveland Police Department has not been able to substantiate the report, however the department continues to investigate.

At 6:30 a.m. Monday, a motorist reported to Groveland Police that one hour earlier, as the motorist was driving on his way to work, on Salem Street near Rt. 97, when a man approached him, carrying a firearm, ordering the motorist to stop and turn his car around. The motorist reported that he drove away and was unharmed.

Groveland Police have reviewed surveillance footage from the area, and neither the motorist nor the allegedly armed individual appear at anytime Monday morning in the available footage. However, the Groveland Police Department takes all such reports seriously, and the investigation remains active and ongoing.
